Packed with a range of new features including a redesigned frame, enhanced ergonomics, an advanced electronics package and smartphone connectivity, the YZF-R7 is revolutionising the Supersport class with the ultimate combination of performance, accessibility and price.

FEATURES

Proven 689cc CP2 Engine

Yamaha's proven twin-cylinder DOHC fuel injected engine delivers excellent power and performance throughout the rpm range for a true Supersport experience. Its 270-degree crossplane crankshaft provides linear torque for exciting acceleration and limited vibration. Contributing to the visceral connection between rider and machine, the YZF-R7 adopts the same intake duct shape and asymmetrical funnel lengths as the current MT-07, harnessing the bike's induction roar for an enhanced feeling of acceleration.

New Frame and Swingarm

The YZF-R7's high-tensile steel tubular frame has been completely revised for enhanced strength and higher torsional, longitudinal, and lateral rigidity, while still retaining the same weight as the previous model. To complement the updated frame, the design of the asymmetrical swingarm has also been revised to optimise rigidity. The result is excellent stability and clearer

Third-Generation Quickshifter

The 2026 YZF-R7 is equipped with Yamaha's advanced third-generation Quick Shift System (QSS), enabling quick, clutchless upshifts and downshifts under both acceleration and deceleration. The system operates at speeds above 16 KM/H, with upshifts above 2000 RPM and downshifts above 1600 RPM.

5in TFT with Connectivity

A stunning full-colour 5in TFT instrument display features four selectable themes along with a track-specific mode. Smartphone connectivity enabled through Yamaha's free Y-Connect app allows riders to receive message notifications, calls and listen to music (through use of an aftermarket Bluetooth® headset, not provided). Additionally, full turn-by-turn navigation is now available through the free Garmin® StreetCross app.

6-Axis IMU

The YZF-R7 now features an advanced six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) developed from the YZF-R1 Superbike. Data collected from the IMU and wheel speed sensors enable a high-tech suite of rider aids including a Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), front wheel Lift Control System (LIF), Brake Control(BC), Engine Brake Management (EBM) and Launch Control (LC). Each of these systems can have their levels of intervention adjusted to preference.

LED Lighting

The iconic R-Series M-shaped intake duct and twin-eye front design of the YZF-R7 houses an adaptive bi-functional LED headlight. The R7 is also equipped with a LED taillight and front and rear turn signals. Light and compact, the LED lighting complements the next-generation style of the bike and reinforces the premium specification of the supersport class. Not only do the LEDs offer long life with minimal power draw, they provide brilliant illumination for confidence and visibility day or night.

Updated Ergonomics

The riding position has been revised for 2026 with the aim of enhancing rider movement and comfort. Handlebar positioning slightly higher and closer to the rider aids upper body movement, while a redesigned seat shape and lower seat height eases reach to the ground for enhanced accessibility. Additionally, a new fuel tank shape improves grip and allows for greater freedom of movement both forward and rearward.

KYB Sports Suspension

The YZF-R7 features an inverted KYB 41mm front fork with optimised spring rate and damping settings for an excellent front-end feel during cornering and braking. The product specific settings make for easy and predictable behaviour, with a stiff feel for twisty roads and racetracks. The fork is fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping force.

Lightweight SpinForged Wheels

Through Yamaha's exclusive spin-forging process, sporty 10-spoke aluminium wheels enhance looks while significantly reducing unsprung weight. The result is improved suspension action and decreased moment of inertia for a more responsive feel, especially during cornering and braking. The YZF-R7 also comes equipped with high performance Bridgestone® Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres.

Potent Braking Power

The YZF-R7 is the first Yamaha model to feature a radial brake master cylinder from Brembo. This Brembo radial master cylinder provides a more linear supply of hydraulic pressure to the radial mounted, four pot front brake calipers creating excellent controllability and stopping power through dual 298mm front brake rotors.

Y-TRAC Rev App Compatibility

For track enthusiasts, the YZF-R7 now comes equipped with Yamaha's new Y-TRAC Rev compatibility making it possible to communicate with a pit crew while on track similar to pro rider communications with a race team. Main functions include a Lap Timer, Virtual Pitboard, and Ride Data Analysis to collect and display data on the motorcycle's TFT display in real time, as well as analyse riding data post-session.
